Speech of Vatan Party at the founding congress of SOVINTERN

Speech held by Secretary General of the Vatan Party, Özgür Bursalı, in Moscow, Russia.

From 25 to 29 April 2026, the first international forum of SOVINTERN was held in Moscow under the leadership of the A Just Russia Party, with the participation of numerous partner parties and organizations. Bringing together more than 200 participants representing over 100 political parties, movements, and organizations from more than 70 countries, the forum marked a significant global gathering of socialist and anti-imperialist forces from Asia to Africa, Latin America to Europe. The Vatan Party was the only political party from Türkiye invited to the forum, represented by Secretary-General Özgür Bursalı and Presidential Board Member as well as Öncü Gençlik Chairman Can Aybars Bilgicier. On 26 April 2026, Vatan Party Secretary-General Özgür Bursalı delivered a speech at the forum, the full text of which we present for your attention.

Dear Mr. Chairman,

Dear Comrades,

I extend my greetings to you with respect as the Secretary-General of the Vatan Party of Türkiye.

I also convey the greetings and best wishes of our Chairman, Mr. Doğu Perinçek.

A new world is emerging.

We have reached the end of the U.S. hegemony established after the Second World War. The Atlantic era is coming to an end, and the Asian era is rising.

The military power of the United States is declining. The Dollar Reign is collapsing. The economies of the imperialist powers are in an unprecedented crisis. The European Union is entering a process of disintegration.

Iran is resisting heroically against U.S. imperialism and Israeli Zionism—and it is winning. Massive aircraft carriers and so-called superior technologies are losing. Wars are won by those who are not afraid to die.

Russia is fighting—and winning—on behalf of all humanity on the Ukrainian front against Western imperialism and NATO’s eastward expansion.

Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, Venezuela, and Cuba are resisting.

Today, the security of regions and nations is no longer a merely regional matter; it has become part of a global confrontation. The most recent example is the war between the United States-Israel, and Iran. In this war, Russia and China stand alongside Iran, as do Palestine, Yemen, and Lebanon.

Venezuela, Cuba, Greenland, Eastern Europe, the Northern Black Sea, the Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus, Libya, Syria, the Red Sea, the Strait of Hormuz, the Taiwan Strait, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea—these are all fronts of a global struggle.

The United States has become a force of destruction, not construction. It is not those who destroy, but those who build, who shape history.

Today, Türkiye faces threats centered around the United States and Israel. Through military bases, armed deployments, and provocative exercises in the Eastern Mediterranean, Southern Cyprus, and the Aegean islands—conducted by the U.S., Israel, and Greece—their guns are aimed at Türkiye.

We can only confront global powers by uniting our own strength. Imbalances of power bring the danger of war.

Under these regional and global conditions, the alliance long advocated by the Vatan Party—Türkiye, Russia, Iran, and China—is a necessity in the face of major threats. This alliance has now entered the agenda of the ruling forces in Türkiye as well.

The Türkiye–Russia–Iran–China alliance will change the balance of power and deter global threats.

The Türkiye–Russia–Iran–China alliance, even if not formally declared, has already been established in practice—particularly in Iran’s struggle.

It is an alliance that will determine the fate of humanity. It is the only force capable of preventing a regional war in West Asia—and indeed, the only force that can stop a Third World War.

In this context, we, as Scientific Socialists of the 21st century, carry great responsibilities for the future of humanity.

Lenin identified the fundamental division of the imperialist era:

On one side stand the imperialists; on the other, the oppressed nations that form the front of humanity. Many of those oppressed nations have today become rising powers.

In 1974, Mao Zedong summarized the global situation as follows:

Vatan Party Presidential Board Member as well as Öncü Gençlik Chairman Can Aybars Bilgicier

“States want independence, nations want liberation, and the people want revolution.”

These assessments have been borne out by history.

Nation-states and national armies are the strongholds of resistance against imperialism. In our era, all revolutions have taken place in the defense of the motherland.

No scientific socialist can oppose Russia’s struggle against NATO and Western imperialism or side with Ukraine in this conflict.

Those who criticize Iran’s system while it resists U.S. and Israeli aggression, or position themselves against the Iranian state, are nothing but pseudo-socialists.

Likewise, positions taken against China and Venezuela—or support given to terrorist organizations—are incompatible with our ideology.

We must take a clear stance against these pseudo-socialists. We are in the 21st century; revolutions cannot be made with 19th-century theories. The enemies of Marxism seek to confine it to the 19th century. We cannot warm ourselves today with a sun that rose in the 19th century.

Socialism is not in the badges we wear—it is in the consciousness and practice of our time.  In this context, we thank SOVINTERN and the A Just Russia Party for organizing this meaningful gathering.

Marx once said, “What is decaying shines.” Today, even the lights of the imperialist-capitalist system are going out. That system offers nothing but decay to humanity. We reject cultural degeneration, individualism, selfishness, genderlessness, and unnatural tendencies. We challenge the decaying order. We stand on the side of humanity—a side that will liberate human beings from all forms of alienation.

We are optimistic and confident. The foundations of a public-oriented, humane, cooperative, democratic, and socialist world are being laid.

Finally, on 7–8 July 2026, a NATO summit will be held in our capital, Ankara. From Moscow, we declare to you, our comrades, and to the whole world:

That meeting will be the funeral of a collapsing NATO.

It will be NATO’s summit of conflict.

It will be NATO’s summit of death.

And we declare: we do not want even the corpse of NATO on our soil. There is no place for NATO in Türkiye.

As your Turkish comrades, we deliver this message: Türkiye is moving toward a new revolutionary phase. Soon, we will bring you good news.

Down with U.S. imperialism and Israeli Zionism!

Long live the aspiration of a classless, exploitation-free, oppression-free world—where not people, but only things are governed!

With this conviction, as the Vatan Party—which will soon assume positions of power in Türkiye—we extend our greetings to you, dear comrades.
