The world refuses to settle into place

No holding deal between the US and Iran, the war in Ukraine facing expansion and continuing crises in Europe: The very basis of a 500-year-old order are being shaken, with uncertainty ahead.

The old order has collapsed, and a new one has yet to be built.

The tremors continue.

No deal holds between Iran and the US

The agreement between Iran and the US isn’t becoming permanent.

Trump continues to threaten to wipe Iran off the world map.

Iran refuses to bow down.

So, Iran and the US continue to clash in the Strait of Hormuz, Lebanon and Iraq.

Most recently, during a visit by Iranian officials, “corruption” operations were launched against Iraqi politicians alleged to be close to Iran.

Israel, meanwhile, is seizing the opportunity from uncertainty in the region to accelerate its moves to expand its occupation in Lebanon and Syria. Lebanon stands on the brink of civil war. In Syria, the administration, incapable of throwing even a single stone against Israel, is waiting for the decision to come from Washington.

A real agreement and real peace between Iran and the US now resemble a distant oasis.

The danger of a third and more comprehensive war is growing by the day.

The war in Ukraine may spread

Another front where war continues is Eurasia…

The Kyiv regime, with the support of its Western friends, has stepped up its attacks deep inside Russia.

The outskirts of Moscow and Crimea are being systematically targeted.

Following the rise in tensions and Zelenskyy’s threats against Belarus, Putin and Lukashenko held a lengthy two-day meeting.

Immediately afterward, Lukashenko went to Beijing and met with Xi Jinping.

It appears that Russia and China are seeking a joint response to the growing Western threat through Belarus.

And the alleged understanding reached between Russia and the US in Alaska seems now nothing more than a mere scrap of paper.

Chain of crises in Europe

In Europe, things are similarly tangled.

Across the old continent, political, economic and social crises are deepening.

From Germany and France, the locomotives the continent, come reports of deepening political uncertainty, rising prices, and integration problems linked to migration that are now virtually exploding. Add to this the air conditioners that are not working because of the energy crisis.

European political elites, in parallel with the deepening atmosphere of crisis at home, are beating the drums of war against Russia.

They seem determined to bury their problems under the fog of war.

Ankara prepares for the NATO summit

As agreements fail to hold and wars deepen across Eurasia and West Asia, Ankara is preparing to host a critical summit on July 7-8 at which the future of NATO will be discussed.

For the preparations to the Summit, the capital city is being repainted from top to bottom, roads are being asphalted, fountains in parks are being turned on, and those attempting to make anti-NATO demonstrations are being detained.

President Erdoğan has called, within the framework of NATO, for “unconditional security and defense network across the NATO alliance, stretching from Texas to Ankara, with no ifs or buts.” And his coalition partner, MHP leader Bahçeli, has declared his loyalty to NATO with the words: “The NATO summit to be held in Ankara will enable Türkiye to bring together the alliance’s past, present and future, and assume a leading role in reshaping its future”.

And so Ankara is preparing for a NATO summit where the divide between the US and Europe is expected to come to the fore, and new decisions concerning the war against Russia could be made.

In sum:

It is clear that the very foundations on which 500 years of Western hegemony were built have been shaken loose…

The world will never be the same again.

Yet what will replace it remains uncertain.
