The cost of an incorrect strategy is heavy. Time is short.
The cost of an incorrect strategy is heavy. Time is short.
By Özgür Bursalı, Secretary General of the Vatan Party (Türkiye)
At the AK Party Parliamentary Group Meeting held on January 21, 2026, our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated:
“What matters is not fragmentation into small statelets, but uniting and building strength together. Turks, Kurds, and Arabs, as in history, will unite, act as one heart, look in the same direction, and together solve the problems of our region. We have a single and common umbrella. That umbrella is Islamic brotherhood.”
Likewise, Yeni Şafak newspaper ran the headline “The Common Umbrella: Islamic Brotherhood” on January 22, 2026, based on the same speech.
The “Islamic umbrella” is not enough
The Turk–Kurd–Arab unity emphasized by our President is correct in terms of highlighting solidarity and common struggle among peoples; however, it is not sufficient at the strategic level. This unity alone does not constitute a solution against the US–Israel-centered threats confronting Türkiye. A correct strategy against the global threat we face cannot be built solely under an “Islamic Umbrella” based on popular unity.
Those fighting do not see the solution in the “Islamic Umbrella”
Let us look at those fighting on the front line. The Islamic countries engaged in frontline combat are not building their strategies under an Islamic umbrella.
Palestine aligns itself with Russia and China.
Iran aligns itself with Russia and China.
Venezuela resists together with Iran, China, and Russia.
In the Palestinian resistance, Sunni Hamas stands shoulder to shoulder with Shiite Iran.
In Palestine and Iran, both the Sunni and Shiite branches of Islam are forming alliances with Russia and China—and are implementing them in practice.
Though rarely mentioned by name, Persians are today among the foremost forces fighting against America through the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It is not religious or sectarian alliances, but National States resisting imperialism that achieve success. These countries are strategic partners not only in security, but also in the economy.
Because they stand at the center of threats, directly in the crosshairs of US and Israeli guns, they make strategic calculations accordingly. Under conditions where matters have spilled into open warfare, they see clearly that Islamic brotherhood alone is not sufficient. This reality is instructive for all of us.
Turk–Kurd–Arab unity cannot prevent threats on its own
Turk–Kurd–Arab unity is undoubtedly valuable and necessary. However, establishing only this unity is insufficient. As the Vatan Party, we are not opposed to this unity; yet recognizing its inadequacy and incompleteness is vital in order to build the correct strategy.
This proposal does not align with the comprehensive strategy Türkiye needs. This unity alone cannot deter the global threats piling up against us.
Turk–Kurd–Arab unity alone cannot counter the US–Israel–Greece threats in the Eastern Mediterranean.
It cannot stand against the US gun barrels positioned on the Aegean islands.
It cannot secure international recognition of the TRNC as a state.
Nor can it ensure energy security or attract investment capital into the Turkish economy.
The only solution: Alliance of Türkiye, Russia, Iran and China
The strategic solution is the Türkiye–Russia–Iran–China alliance.
This alliance is the sole solution capable of freeing Turks, Kurds, and Arabs alike from imperialist pressure and hegemony.
Under today’s conditions, Türkiye cannot be defended without Russia, China, and Iran. The moment the discourse is reduced to “the common umbrella is Islamic brotherhood,” these countries are excluded. Formulas that do not include Russia, Iran, and China ultimately drift toward reconciliation with the United States.
Mr. Devlet Bahçeli has proposed the Türkiye–Russia–China–Iran alliance as the only solution against US–Israel threats. The Vatan Party has been advocating this alliance for 40 years. The TRCI alliance represents strategic reason that correctly calculates both the threat facing Türkiye and the global balance of power against that threat. It is also the sole remedy capable of deterring aggression in our region and preventing developments that could escalate into larger wars—even a world war.
A producers’ national government is on the agenda
Mr. Bahçeli’s statements—“we are not a partner in power, but a partner in alliance”—gain meaning on this strategic basis.
The cost of an incorrect strategy is heavy. Time is short. Under conditions where the US–Israel “Second Israel” plan in Syria has collapsed, Türkiye must act decisively, establish the correct strategy, and immediately put it into practice.
A Producers’ National Government, capable of overcoming security and economic challenges, ensuring unity on the home front, and leading the Production Revolution through a comprehensive strategy that establishes the Türkiye–Russia–China–Iran alliance, is an urgent necessity.
Türkiye can overcome the challenges ahead through a Producers’ National Government formed by the AK Party, the MHP, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s CHP, and the Vatan Party.
As the Vatan Party, we will continue to intensify these efforts both internationally on the Eurasian front and domestically among Türkiye’s national forces.
