“Truce will weaken Netanyahu’s position even more”

A ceasefire was agreed upon in Lebanon regarding the war between Israel and Hezbollah. Moscow-based Syrian journalist Abbas Djuma evaluated the agreement in an interview with UWI. Djuma emphasizes that one needs to wait for the details of the agreement. Here are his first comments.

Now Israeli propaganda will actively throw in the thesis that Hezbollah abandoned Hamas and Palestine. This is being done in order to drive a wedge into the Axis of Resistance and somehow soften the failure of the Israeli army. There are also theses about Israel’s victory and the severe damage inflicted on Hezbollah. Is this true? Let’s think about it.

Of course, Hezbollah has been dealt a severe blow. You don’t have to be an expert to understand this. Important people were killed, including the Secretary General. Damage was inflicted on the infrastructure. Has Hezbollah been defeated? No.

Nuclear Israel, with its colossal capabilities provided by the US and NATO, still must negotiate. In this sense, Israel is more exhausted than Hezbollah, and its image has been dealt a colossal blow. For the second time since October 7.

Thus, on the one hand, we see the classic bragging of Israelis who, due to strong complexes and fears, are unable to present the situation any other way. And on the other hand, the shock and rage of a large part of Israeli society, as if telling us that there can be no talk of any victory for Israel.

As for the thesis that Hezbollah abandoned Hamas: Let me remind you that Hezbollah was the only one to enter into a fierce fight with Israel, burying hundreds of its fighters and tying down a significant part of the Israeli forces with their blood, which greatly helped, is helping and will help the Palestinian resistance. Despite the fact that Hezbollah has never fought for Palestine like this, no one has ever dared to accuse Hezbollah of betrayal.

This time, Israel has suffered serious economic damage. The north of the country has been evacuated, the IDF is badly battered.

At the same time, Hezbollah objectively needs a break. And Hezbollah’s leadership thinks strategically. It has no right to succumb to emotions, much less to the insinuations of the Israelis, who are furious that Israel is retreating. The resistance needs a strong Hezbollah. Only a strong Hezbollah will the enemy be afraid of. And being afraid, they will remain constrained in their actions.

All that Hezbollah has done so far is to put pressure on Israel to stop the massacre in Gaza. All this was only for the sake of Palestine. This has always been the case, even when Hezbollah was not directly involved in the fighting.

Together with Iran, it helped smuggle weapons into Gaza and train Hamas commanders. I think this will continue. And Israeli incitement will not bring any results. It will only expose the instigators as idiots who do not understand what is really happening. Or pretending to.

Seyed Hassan Nasrallah said that the war with Israel is a series of battles and continuous attacks that will continue until Hezbollah achieves its goal – the complete defeat of Israel.

Hezbollah struck Israel. If Hezbollah had not done this, one could talk about betrayal. But it did and sacrificed a lot. The Lebanese attack weakened Israel and the Israeli government. Perhaps the truce will weaken Netanyahu’s position even more. This must also be taken into account.

And we cannot perceive Seyed Nasrallah’s promises ignoring the context of what is happening. Nothing makes sense without context. Without context, all this is nothing more than manipulation.

We still need to wait for specifics from Hezbollah and the truce itself. And then see how everything happens. We must remember that there are enough people in the Lebanese government who want to hit Hezbollah’s image and are actively negotiating with Israel.
