Germany facing its historical role and the contribution of Turks living in Germany

On a possible alliance between the Alternative for Germany and the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht.

By Doğu Perinçek, Chairman of the Vatan Party (Türkiye)

Today, however, Germany –no matter from which perspective one looks—is standing on the threshold of a path that could be called “moving closer to the East”. The necessity of economic cooperation with rising Asia, particularly China, the securing of energy supplies through relations with Russia and Iran, the need for peace, and, last but not least, the desire to be among the architects of a new world order are shaping Germany’s future agenda.

The unstoppable rise of the AfD, as well as the hopes that Sahra Wagenknecht awakens in large segments of society, are expressions of a historical dynamic.

Like Türkiye, Germany too stands on the threshold of a historic decision.

As known, following its defeat in World War II, Germany was divided into two parts. In West Germany, the Federal Republic of Germany was established under American occupation and control. The German Democratic Republic was under Soviet influence and a member of the Warsaw Pact. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, East Germany was formally integrated into West Germany on October 3, 1990. The two German states united within the Atlantic system.

Until recently, Germany held the second most important position within this Atlantic system, after the United States. Today, however, Germany is experiencing a profound economic, social, cultural, and thus political crisis. Most significantly, its population is aging, Germany is losing its youth. Germany has reached a dead end in the Atlantic system.

Germany has two options

Germany faces two options: either it is harnessed to the war chariot of the US globalists and experiences another tragedy like that with Hitler or it takes on a historic role in building the New World.

These two paths can also be summarized as the Atlantic path and the Eurasian path.

The Atlantic path means that Germany alienates itself and fully submits to the imperial interests of the US globalists.

The current war barons in Germany, namely the Merz government are following this path.

The Eurasian path, on the other hand, is the German path. In other words: the path of German patriotism, the path of German humanism, as embodied by Goethe and the likes.

Both paths have their class foundations, historical roots, and political representatives in Germany.

The companions of the Atlantic path are the globalist big capitalists at the top of Germany’s collapsing economy. These circles present the expansion of the arms industry to the German public as a solution to economic stagnation, shrinkage, insolvencies, and declining employment.

The war barons of France and Great Britain are also partners in this “solution model.” Together, they rely on the stimulative effect that the arms industry is supposed to have on various industrial sectors. To enable investments in the arms industry, the European Union plans to provide a financial volume of 1 trillion euros. However, there is no other way to raise these funds than through taxation and other forms of access to the incomes of the working classes. For this reason, they are conducting a psychological operation at the European level based on the fiction of a “Russian threat.” Extensive debt would also be an option, but the idea of covering a volume of one trillion euros solely through new debt is unrealistic. In the end, Germany is entering a phase in which the contradictions between the big-capitalist camp of Atlantic war barons and the German people will increasingly intensify.

At the political level in Germany, the SPD and similar parties lead the traditionally Atlantic-oriented forces. The Greens and The Left, together with the SPD, are among the leading parties of the Atlantic system. The CDU/CSU also belong to the political center of this system, however as seen in the example of Merkel they tend to be closer to Germany’s national values than the Social Democrats.

At the center of the social forces on which the companions of Eurasia build are the working classes. Capital groups that have no direct connection to the arms industry also share the same interests as the working classes.

Two parties stand out as representatives of these classes: the AfD (Alternative for Germany) and the BSW (Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht).

The Alternative for Germany achieved second place in the federal election in February 2025 with 20.8% of the vote.

In current polls, their support is around 25%, leading to claims that they have risen to become the strongest party in the country.

The BSW received 4.98% of the vote in the February 2025 election. Had it received just 10,000 more votes, it would have crossed the 5% threshold and entered the Bundestag. However, this was prevented by electoral manipulations. Legal proceedings to uncover the election fraud are ongoing.

The AfD and the BSW are perceived as a threat by the ruling Atlantic system in Germany. These two parties represent the rising nationalism across Europe in Germany. They position themselves against hostility toward Russia and China. Although there are economic policy differences between the two, they are, compared with the Atlantic parties, closer to the interests of the working classes and adopt a clearly more cautious stance toward neoliberal policies.

The Alternative for Germany is often accused of “xenophobia.” However, a German-nationalist course that is hostile to foreigners cannot rely on the productive forces that keep the economy running and therefore has no real prospect of government. It is therefore observable that the AfD, with its political growth and potential path to government responsibility, is evolving in a direction that increasingly seeks to include all people who contribute to work and prosperity in Germany.

Germany on the verge of the major decision

Yes, Germany today indeed faces two options. However, when one takes into account the dynamics of the current process, it becomes clear that the tendency of Germany to turn toward Eurasia is gaining strength. Aligning with Eurasia is the only path for Germany.

Also widely recognized and significant social-democratic leaders in Europe, such as Helmut Schmidt, recognized this reality years ago and courageously supported it.

The pressure coming from the Atlantic front ignores Germany’s geographical position, demands that it forgo vital interests, and pushes the country into danger and war at a high cost.

Germany is a Central European country, and its geographical location has at every stage of history predisposed it to connect with the East. In the 13th century, the Teutonic Knights advanced eastward through military campaigns. In 1941, Hitler pursued his policy of “Drang nach Osten” in his attack on the Soviet Union. Today, however, regardless of the perspective from which one views it, Germany stands at the threshold of a path that could be called “Zusammengehen mit Osten” (“moving together with the East”). The need for economic cooperation with rising Asia, especially China, securing energy supplies, the desire for peace, and most importantly the will to be among the architects of the New World appears to be the inevitable path of Germany’s geography, economy and civilization.

In this context, the unstoppable rise of the AfD and the hopes that Sahra Wagenknecht inspires in broad segments of society reflect a historical dynamic. The major decision in front of Germany also brings forth the pioneers that can make that decision. The resurgence of German patriotism should therefore not, as is often claimed, be misunderstood as the rise of “far-right extremism” or “ultranationalism”, but rather as the awakening of a new Germany finding its place in the New World.

Germany possesses an intellectual and historical potential candidate to play important roles in the New World and the Rising Asian Civilization. We are speaking of the land of Kant, Goethe, Schiller, Hegel, Feuerbach, Wagner, Bismarck, Marx and Engels. The current historical process promises significant tasks to this legacy. Germany is one of Europe’s leading countries, capable of actively contributing to the building of the New World and the Rise of New Civilization.

The trial by fire of the government question

As Germany approaches its major decision, the question of government becomes increasingly urgent.

The Atlantic-oriented governments have reached a dead end because their system itself is in crisis.

The current government, which is in the process of collapse, and the forthcoming government are both defined by the historical process.

The collapsing government belongs to the Atlantic system.

The government appearing on the horizon is the government of Eurasian-oriented German patriotism.

Germany’s only true solution today is no longer the “Drang nach Osten” but rather the “Zusammengehen mit Osten”.

If Germany persists on the first option to move eastward, it will sink into the Russian swamp, like the Teutonic Knights and Hitler. But if Germany chooses the second path, it will place itself within the Rising Civilization.

The requirements of the government goal

As the US-globalists’ plan for a “unipolar world” collapse, Germany seeks its place in the emerging “multipolar world.” The parties representing this place are the AfD and the BSW.

The historical process compels the AfD and the BSW to act together. The method of their cooperation is secondary which is to be discovered in practice. What matters above all is the goal of this joint action: to form the government!

The duty of governmental responsibility is, throughout history, the strongest compulsion. Political organizations cannot escape their responsibility to govern. The process compels them to take on their historical task. That is what now unfolds in Germany. Within the ranks of the AfD and the BSW, there may be forces resisting a joint government. These forces may even be temporarily effective. Yet such resistance is ultimately futile, for in processes that make government attainable, those who cannot adapt to this responsibility are eliminated. This is the law of politics.

The goal of government also necessarily brings with it a political program and guidelines.

Looking at the process on the threshold where Germany stands today, we can say that the following program asserts itself:

  1. German patriotism, understood today as liberation from Atlantic control, the independence of the German state, commitment to the tradition that the German people live with dignity and in harmony with other nations.
  2. Representing the interests of German working classes, the majority of the population who form the backbone of German patriotism and who face threats from war barons.
  3. Friendship and cooperation with the countries of the East as a guarantee for the independence and freedom of the German state and the German nation. Economic cooperation with China, good relations with Russia and Iran, energy security, and solidarity with West Asian countries, especially Türkiye, against the threats posed by the US and Israel.
  4. At a time when Germany’s population is aging, fostering a warm relationship with foreigners living in Germany, promoting social cohesion, and overcoming xenophobia, thus securing the country’s future.
  5. The fight against the decay of the Atlantic system, manifested in selfishness, self-interest, gender inequality, violence against women, LGBT, drug dependency, and the destruction of nature is today a task in the service of humanity. The principles of National Sovereignty, Humanism, the Common Good, Solidarity, Enlightenment, and Peace, is a responsibility shared by all.

The historical mission of Turks in Germany

Four million Turks live, work, and study in Germany. With the introduction of dual citizenship, it is expected that within a few years, four million Turks will acquire German citizenship. The fact that Turks living and working in Germany are legally both Turkish and German serves the interests of both Germany and Türkiye. Under historical conditions in which German and Turkish patriotism converge on the same side, this unity will ignite dynamics that will shape the future of Europe and the world.

Turks in Germany are aware of the ground on which they breathe, earn their living and pursue their education. Turks have always been known for their ability to learn from the cultures and societies they have come into contact with over the course of their millennia-old history. They are philanthropic and adaptable. For this reason, Turks living in Germany will also sincerely embrace German identity. At the same time, their patriotism and connection to their country of origin are widely recognized. Against this backdrop, adopting dual citizenship in Germany is a step that reflects societal reality and offers positive prospects for both countries.

Turks who have also acquired German citizenship link their future to the future of Germany. It is therefore natural that they engage politically, join parties, and take on responsibilities.

It is inevitable that Turks living in Germany will not remain mere spectators but will assume active, history-shaping roles as German citizens. The Vatan Party is prepared to fulfill its responsibilities in this process.

The participation of Turks in German politics will inevitably serve humanity, align with the principles of a Rising Civilization, and be grounded in German-Turkish brotherhood, while also supporting the welfare of the working population. In our time, Turks will contribute to strengthening Germany’s strategic position as part of Eurasia and to the Asiatization of European Germany.

In this context, we encourage Turks in Germany not to confine themselves to the established Atlantic-oriented parties but to actively engage with the AfD and the BSW, which represent the Rising Civilization, the demands of the working population, German patriotism, and Turkish brotherhood.

Turks and Germans will collaborate not only on production lines, in mines, and in rail transport but also across all levels of Germany’s leadership.

It is only natural for Turks with a German identity to participate in Germany’s political life. As members and officials of political parties, they actively shape the processes that determine power relations in Germany. The focus of her political engagement is not Türkiye, but Germany. At the same time, their efforts will serve the historically rooted friendship between Germany and Türkiye.

The unity of German and Turkish patriotism has assumed a historical mission in the rise of Asian civilization.
