Ukraine has hit Russia’s strategic nuclear bombers and sabotaged rail lines. In doing so, it targeted both Russia’s new nuclear doctrine and Russian civilians. So, it’s no surprise that the Istanbul peace table fell apart without any real outcome.
And now, it’s back to war…
What is happening on the front lines?
Russia has responded to Zelenskyy’s attacks by striking Ukrainian cities from the air, Kyiv foremost. On the ground, its forces continue to push forward on multiple fronts. Word is, Russia’s looking to establish a 100 to 120-kilometer buffer zone along the border. But what kind of full-scale retaliation might be coming is still discussed.
Will the ground offensive push toward the Black Sea? Or will we see a broader air campaign using Oreshnik missiles?
One thing is s for sure: peace is nowhere in sight.

Power struggle in Washington and Russia
In the wake of Ukraine’s strikes, US Secretary of State Rubio called his Russian counterpart Lavrov to offer condolences for those killed in the rail attacks. Along with that, he reportedly reassured Moscow that the US had no hand in Ukraine’s attacks deep inside Russian soil. However, it is debatable how convincing this message from Washington was to the Russian side.
Just a few days later, a power struggle erupted in Washington. Trump and Musk, two heavyweights of the government, fell out in before the public. Musk was pushed out of the game.
Dmitry Novikov, Deputy Chair of the Russian Duma’s Foreign Affairs Committee and the Communist Party’s number two, said Russia would be open to granting Musk political asylum if he needs. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the happenings as “an internal American matter” and said Russia had no intention of getting involved.
Meanwhile, Elon’s father Errol Musk who was in Moscow for a high-level meeting gave an interview to Russian media, saying “Trump’s going to win. Elon made a mistake. But it’s because he is exhausted, he has been under pressure for months. Right now, they are tearing each other apart because neither of them knows what to do”. A call to his son to put an end to the fight.
Now everyone’s wondering: Is round two coming between Trump and Musk?
Where is all this heading?
Where is the pentagon of Russia, the US, Ukraine, Trump, and Musk heading to. It’s a big puzzle…
Is Trump playing both sides when it comes to Russia? Did he know about Ukraine’s attacks in advance? Or did someone in Washington greenlight Ukraine in spite of him?
Is the Trump-Musk clash just about business, trade, and tariffs? Or are we watching a fight for the throne? Why did the section in Moscow invite Musk to seek refuge in Russia?
Is it a coincidence that this fight erupted just after Ukraine targeted Russia’s nuclear doctrine?
Maybe the most important question: Could this fight trigger toppling Trump’s grip on power in?
At the end of the day, two tangible facts stand out through the fog:
Russia’s new nuclear doctrine was targeted, and before the world even had time to discuss that, Trump was slammed with accusations of pedophilia by his closest political ally.
I guess no one could have predicted Rome would fall in such chaos.
